Ready for War by Mel Dau

A Review By: NJH

Warrior "War" Davis is ready for anything life has to throw at him, or at least he thinks he is.

He's not a man that should be played with on any level, but love doesn't care about your position. When love enters the battlefield, will it be a fair fight? Life has a funny way of humbling you. When the humbling comes from a person you don't want to even like, will he submit himself to love?

Blossom "Pea" McCoy has been in battles most of her life, but her biggest battle is just over the horizon. Will she be able to turn an enemy into a friend to prepare for a bigger nemesis, or will her pride lead her to a losing battle? What happens when enemies turn to friends who turn to lovers?

They say love is a battlefield. Let's see who is truly ready for war!

I would like to call this a comedic enemies to lovers. When you want to lay hands on someone you first meet but you feel it's not a good idea. That's how Blossom felt about War. But.... is it?

First things first, Winston nailed it. His daddy voice was mature and sexy. Opal did a good job as well. I appreciate her performance of the older woman more than Blossom's. Overall, the narration was a strong performance. Now War and Peace had me in tears from laughter. The storytelling is phenomenal. The story flows and is easy to follow along. Character development on point. The love relationships in this book play a major role. We see good healthy parentals, brothers and friends. Listen, it's some humor up in here, too. When you wake up out your sleep to re-listen to what that fool War did. The acts he committed when Peace went on a date. Hilarious...I have nothing negative to say about this audiobook. There is a spin off to this book and hopefully it will also make it to audio.

I'm greedy at times so I want more. She did an amazing job at ending the book.
