Forced to stay at Troy’s secluded mountain house, Kennedy races to complete her research under his watchful eye. With a looming deadline and her work still incomplete, Troy proposes a strict care regimen to accelerate healing. However, this comes with conditions that lead to unexpected consequences for both as they walk the razor-thin line between professionalism and passion. When the brilliant Dr. Kennedy Green's research for a groundbreaking project puts her in danger, Troy Armstrong proves to be just the man to protect her. Although the pair share an instant attraction, neither act on it immediately. That all changes when Kennedy's safety is compromised past everyone's level of comfort and Troy personally takes over as her personal security, exhibiting his own brilliance and strength while doing so. As the pair spends more time together, Kennedy is not shy about her growing feelings for Troy.. It's commendable how Troy tries to remain professional and fights against acting on his own growing feelings and tries to resist Kennedy's advances, but his resistance quickly dissipates. Readers will delight in witnessing their love story unfold as Troy learns to balance loving Kennedy and keeping her safe.

I was engulfed in this story from the beginning. There was thought provoking suspense, intriguing action, and unwavering friendship woven into this passionate love story. Although there was instant attraction, this story was a slow burn which I surprisingly enjoyed. I appreciated how the couple got to know each other as Troy kept Kennedy hidden away as a means to protect her. I loved how Ms. Gordon refused to allow Kennedy to become a damsel in distress under the circumstances. Not only was she beautiful and brilliant, she was also brave and unafraid to speak her mind. That's just what Troy needed to let his guard down just enough to let her in while staying vigilant about securing her safety. It was nice to see the intelligent bodyguard from previous works of Ms. Gordon get his own story.

One of my favorite touches was Ms. Gordon's decision to include a quote at the start of each chapter. Each quote prefaced its chapter perfectly.
