Bunny by Rae Lyse
A Review By: DWP
Desmond Simmons' life is at an impasse.
After a tragic near-death experience, he’s left struggling to pick up the pieces of an existence that’s grown monotonous. He’s so sure he’s stuck until an old neighbor reappears, turning his new, uneventful life upside down.
While reconnecting, the two embark on a journey that leaves them grappling with their new lives and falling back into a whimsical world full of secrets they created as children to escape reality. They soon learn that outrunning the truth isn’t as easy as it once was, but that doesn’t mean they won’t give it a try.

An installment in a Series? Yes
Narrator (s): Benjamin Charles, Morae Brehon
This hood fairy tale was a joy to read. These two have seen more than most, and found love anyways.
These two narrators complemented each other’s voices very well. I felt like their emotional performance was beyond amazing and one of their best performances. I was moved and captivated the whole book.
Benjamin Charles transformed into Mo. He brought a completely different vibe to Desmond from when he narrated as Josiah. He became a man at an impasse. A man who’s trying to do better but keeps getting pulled back. He also did a great job with the other characters. I especially enjoyed his voice for Mo’s grandmother.
Morae Brehon did such a great job as Logan. She brought a mischievousness to her tone that fit Logan so well. It made it so easy to see and believe that Logan would do the things that she did. Morae captured all the nuances of her character. She had different inflections to her voice to show when she was speaking for a new character. Her voices for the kids were great as well.
Rae Lyse is a great storyteller, and she keeps getting better and better with each story she tells. In each new book, the characters become my new favorites. I can’t express enough how consumed I am with the way she develops her characters and finds narrators to bring them to life.
There was nothing not to like about this book.
