Full Figured (The Full Figured Plus Size Divas Series, Book 1) by Brenda Hampton and La Jill Hunt

A Review By: RS

Age is just a number, and whoever said that full-figured women don't know how to bring fire to a relationship was sadly mistaken.

Carl Weber brings together two popular Urban Audiobooks divas to give listeners what they've been asking for: passionate, empowering stories about the lives and loves of big, beautiful women.

Newly divorced 40-year-old Desa Rae finds herself alone now that her son has gone away to college. She's taken to her bed, watching life pass her by - until Roc, a 24-year-old with a jaw-dropping body comes along. Desa Rae can't keep her eyes open or legs closed to a man who excites her like no other man has. But can she really be serious about a man who is almost the same age as her son?

Avery Belmont is a diva in her own right. Smart, sassy, and successful, she has always had it going on; so much so that not only did the full-figured beauty catch the eye of Duke, the sexiest dude on the block, but she encouraged him to leave the dope game and become legit. Now, seven years later, Avery is working hard and trying to move ahead, but it seems that Duke isn't feeling the same way. Working with Kurt, her attractive coworker, isn't helping her situation. Is the love between Avery and Duke strong enough to keep them together, or will the strength of that love make them realize it's time to let go?

Brenda Hampton - Who Ya With:
Desa is a 40-year-old divorcee who finds herself being pursued by a 24-year-old Thundercat. Roc is fine as wine and ready to bust down Desa Rea. She, on the other hand, is hesitant to allow this very young man to show her what she's been missing. I definitely found myself relating to Desa being that I'm full figured, attractive, and am a cougar, lol. On the other hand, at 40, I no longer allow myself to be d dizzy. Young D will definitely do that; however, when the red flags are blaring in your face, maturity and experience should take over...right? While Roc exposed Desa to a different kind of love, he also brought dope boy foolishness and youthful relationship drama, which of course included a ratchet baby mama. And when he does the unforgivable, in my opinion, I truly thought Desa would walk away. But alas...It was as if she suffered from a savior complex. With all that being said, I was invested! I mean, it couldn't have been me but I was here for the drama, lol! Desa’s and Roc's story pulled me in, and I actually wanted just a little bit more.

La Jill Hunt - 7 Year Itch:
After seven years with her high school sweetheart, Duke, Avery Belmont starts to see her life going in a different direction. Former dope boy Duke is happy with their current positions in life. Avery wants more, starting with advanced higher education. This, of course, makes her complacent and somewhat childish man Duke feel insecure. Throw in a sexy and confident coworker and Avery starts to have thoughts and feelings that she hasn't had before. Oh, and we can't forget the hating female(s).

Overall, both are good stories and Mishi LaChapelle gives everything she's supposed to give with her narration. Mishi's interpretation of each character gives these stories life, even her male characters. She understood the assignment!

My only dislike was that the second book/story really didn't pull me in. I felt like I wanted more from the storyline. That, and in both stories, I wanted both ladies to heed the red flags.
