Precious Stones by Darrien Lee

A Review By: SB

Owning the Stone-Chance Protection Agency has its perks. It’s a profitable company that allows Ramsey and Keilah Stone to enjoy the finer things in life; however, it has also added an element of danger to their otherwise normal lifestyle.

When Keilah was a field agent, she was an excellent marksman, known for being fearless when it came to protecting her clients. Now that she has a baby daughter, she’s lost that competitive edge and longs for a slower life. That might not be possible, though, when the return of a shady ex-lover brings chaos into Keilah’s life.

At home, Ramsey is a warm and caring father and husband, but on the job, he finds it necessary to maintain his tough persona as an ex-military officer. When an unexpected tragedy darkens his doorstep, he finds himself in a cat-and-mouse game with a dangerous assailant. He will be forced to make some very difficult decisions in order to protect his family.

An installment in a Series? No

Narrator (s): Tony Isabella

Darrien Lee weaved a tale of whodunit while adding romance into the mix. Keilah and Ramsey love each other, their business, and especially their baby girl. When the unthinkable happens, they rely on each other and their extended family to help them through this perilous time. With Ramsey’s “love them and leave them” past (the ladies knew this going into the relationship) and Keilah’s failed relationships, Darrien Lee has you trying to guess who’s the culprit that’s rained terror into this family’s dynamic.

I absolutely loved Ramsey and Keilah’s relationship and their relationships with their extended family and friends that would go to the ends of the earth to help them. Ramsey is an alpha male and I loved everything that came with his character. Darrien Lee’s mystery storytelling had me on the edge of my seat trying to predict what would happen next.

Tony Isabella’s voice is for the mystery genre. The inflections were at the right time to add to the mystery or the romance of the story. I definitely enjoyed the narration of this book and look forward to listening to this narrator again.
