Property of a Rich Nigga 2 by Jessica N. Watkins

A Review By: SS

In part 2 of Property of a Rich Nigga, Jah struggles with the loss of Faye and Buck. Coupled with the stress of heading the crew and his family, he unravels chaotically. Messiah is fighting the need to finally mature and become a man. But will he mature in time to keep his and his brothers' secrets out of the ears of Detective Freemont? Shauka is more than content with his doting girlfriend and beautiful best friend. He has two women who love and protect him at all costs. Yet, when secrets are revealed, and he becomes dangerously entangled in the web of lies and deceit, no one will come out of their love triangle unscathed.

Jah, Shauka, and Messiah are intellects when it comes to the game. Yet, they have so much to figure out about women and love. On their journey to figuring it out, their quiet, loving sister delivers a blow that will make them aware that they have so much more to learn.

The Disciple brothers are respected men about their bag, but they are far from typical. Because of the damaging childhood that they endured, their hearts are wide open to love. However, opening their hearts to Yaz, Sariah, Faye, and Tory have also opened the floodgates of drama and hard decisions. Yet, these men are far from weak and are prepared for anything that tries to get in the way of those they love.

An installment in a Series? Yes

Narrator (s): Nicole Small, Jaime Lincoln Smith

Whew! The drama continues in the saga of the Disciple family. Book 2 seems to focus more on the siblings' fight to find and hold on to love and friendship. Although these siblings want for nothing that money can buy, they all yearn for the love and nurturing they missed after the deaths of their parents when they were all small children. Unfortunately, while navigating the drama in their own lives, the brothers don't realize their baby sister, Naija, is fighting demons of her own. Demons they can't eliminate for her, as they would any other threat to their family/empire. Through all the drama, betrayal, lust, secrets, and suspense, I find myself rooting for the Disciples and hoping they each find happiness in love. I'm hoping there are some happy endings once the dust settles in Book 3.

I liked how this book told more about the women in the series. Nicole Small did an excellent job bringing the emotions of the characters to life. I am also pleased they switched male narrators for this second book. Jaime Lincoln Smith showed more expression than the previous narrator. He made the characters' interactions sound more believable.
