Rare Danger by Beverly Jenkins

A Review By: RS

A librarian’s quiet life becomes a page-turner of adventure, romance, and murder in a thrilling novella by USA Today bestselling author Beverly Jenkins.

For Jasmine Ware, curating books for an exclusive clientele is her passion. Until an old friend, a dealer of rare books, goes missing and his partner is murdered. Linked to an artifact smuggled out of the ancient library at Timbuktu, the mystery draws Jasmine deeper into a plot that could cost her her life.

Air force veteran and private security ace Torr Noble is accustomed to adrenaline-pumping stakes. He never expected a private librarian would be so intriguing, but Jasmine is full of surprises. As the connection between them burns hot, a powerful old enemy raises his head. Torr and Jasmine must work together to find the missing dealer.

Will the search be the start of a happily ever after or a disastrous THE END?

Audio Book Publication Year: 2021

An installment in a Series? No

Narrator (s): Kim Staunton

Story: Murder, a missing artifact, and instant attraction bring Jasmine and Torr together. The potential romance is put to the test as they try to uncover the truth.

The story pulls you in from the start. Jasmine is a character you can't help but love and you want to see her win. The chemistry between she and Torr is definitely hot! Jasmine is no wilting violet, she's smart and bold and holds nothing back. She doesn't need Torr to save the day. The pair complement each other nicely. Torr's dark sexiness is undeniable.

While I understand this is a novella, I would have loved for this book to have been longer. I feel like it was wrapped up too quickly. This story pulls you in and leaves you waiting more.

Narration/Performance: While I usually enjoy Kim's narrations, I don't believe she did this book justice. She definitely could have voiced the older characters but the two main characters would have been better served with someone younger and edgier. Not a terrible narration but not a favorite.
