The Endgame: The Sun Series Book 2 of 4 by Rae Lyse

A Review By: DWP

Josiah Joseph is trouble - at least that’s what everyone says about him.

Jade Taylor can’t help but to agree with their sentiments. He’s a hotheaded football player and one of her most lackluster students. She’s a young mother and a laser-focused teacher’s assistant, counting the days until graduation.

After the two cross paths at a wild party, Jade makes a discovery about the volatile quarterback that sends her on a quest to understand who Josiah Joseph is and why he’s suddenly become enamored with her.

An installment in a Series? Yes

Narrator (s): Phoenix McKay, Benjamin Charles

This is truly a book of discovery and two young people figuring out life. It shows that old adage that what's meant for you is for you... This urban twist of having to kiss a few frogs to find your prince is a joy to read.

Phoenix McKay, Benjamin Charles: Phoenix McKay was a complete joy as Jade. She really brought the character to life. She made all the emotions feel real with the different inflections she used for each character. It was pure perfection. Phoenix made it so easy to understand Jade’s struggles. Benjamin Charles made it easy to envision Josiah. I could literally see the young black man navigating his life. He brought the swag that you expect Jojo to have. He gave us the hood dude who really didn’t give a fuck. I love the different voices he chose to use for other characters; he was consistent and they fit them well. Altogether, this was a really good audiobook. It was so easy to see what was happening. Rae Lyse is a very good storyteller and these two narrators matched her energy completely. By book two, I already loved Jojo so much and I'm so happy his story didn't disappoint at all. There was nothing that I didn't like about this book or the narration.
