The Secret World of Maggie Grey (Drew Collins Book 1) by Granger

A Review By: VJJ

A vampire, a witch, and a siren get accepted into a magical HBCU.

The rest I am not allowed to say, but just know there is a talking cat named Quan, a few murders that went cold, and a world that is just below our feet.

If the movies School Daze by Spike Lee, Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling and Twilight by Stephanie Meyer had a book baby, The Secret Life Of Maggie Grey would be the literary marvel it conjures.

Delve into an HBCU world woven with secrecy and deception, where the intrigue is enough to keep the pages fluttering like the wings of a fairy. Add to this tapestry spells of sisterhood, brotherhood, and the magic of unexpected encounters—encompassing rich histories, legacies, sororities, and fraternities where enchantments abound with secret doors, spells, and ghosts, alongside an intoxicating blend of sensuality, desires, and the allure of vampires, witches, sirens, wolves, shifters, nymphs, and a whimsical talking foul mouth cat that had me in tears laughing. The result? An explosive, intricately crafted, and tantalizing tale brimming with alluring plot twists and mystery.

This narrative dances between drama and hilarity, evoking tears of sorrow and laughter in equal measure. Author Granger breathes life into characters with such emotion, charisma, and humor that they transform this whimsical, mysterious, and suspenseful Black fairytale into an essential read.

Set against the urban backdrop of Atlanta, Granger conjures Drew Collins University into a hidden sanctuary, where students embark on the journey of self-discovery and destiny mastery. This work is nothing short of brilliance, inviting me into the enchanting realm of Maggie Grey, and I find myself wanting to register for the next semester.

The narration by Trei Taylor and Avery Waddell was spot on and voiced so much personality and emotion into these characters.

This tale is a must-read, and the saga continues with The First Family (book 2) and When A Wolf Cries (book 3) which are not on audiobook, but really need to be.

Seek out this captivating book, and prepare to be spellbound.
