Review Notes:

Audio Book Publication Year: 2003

An installment in a Series? No

Narrator (s): Kevin Free

Story: A tumultuous home life soon proves to be the least of young Jason Brooks’ worries.

This was a masterfully penned tale full of suspense and imaginative world-building reminiscent of the works of Stephen King, however, Brandon Massey is a force in his own right. This book preceded Stranger Things but if I had to give an example of something similar, that would be it. There are many surprises and a deep feeling of innocence being lost and strength being gained. I truly enjoyed this ride!

Narration/Performance: Kevin Free did an excellent job voicing this story. He embodied the protagonist, conveying his emotions and angst very well.
