Daddy Long Stroke by Cairo
A Review By: SY
Dramatic, bold, and racy, Daddy Long Stroke uncovers the shocking and painful reality of some men's belief systems about women and sex. Cairo offers listeners a voyeuristic look into the mind of a womanizer who manipulates and seduces women by using what he's got - good looks, chiseled physique, charisma, and sexual prowess - to get what he wants without remorse or regret.
Sexy and thuggish, Alexander Maples, a.k.a. Daddy Long Stroke, is a womanizer. Arrogant and self-indulged, he is what every woman secretly craves in the bedroom - rough, rugged, and ravenous. And he is always happy to deliver. Alexander knows no boundaries when it comes to pleasing a woman, leaving no area untouched, not even her heart - or her wallet. But love is the last thing on his mind. Getting paid and whetting his sexual appetite are the only things that motivate this salacious gigolo. And any woman trying to claim him finds herself on the receiving end of heartache, tears, and drama.
Written in raw, graphic language, Daddy Long Stroke is a cautionary tale of one man's insatiable thirst for sex and his quest to bed down as many women he possibly can - no matter the costs and no matter who gets hurt in the process.

Written in raw, graphic language, Daddy Long Stroke is a cautionary tale of one man's insatiable thirst for sex and his quest to bed down as many women he possibly can - no matter the costs and no matter who gets hurt in the process.
I was first introduced to Cairo through his sapphic title, Slippery When Wet, and enjoyed the character vignettes enough to peruse his catalog for other work. Stumbled upon "Daddy Long Stroke" and it seemed like a tryst worth having. Unfortunately, it was not.
The title was 40 chapters long - 11.5 hours - but provided no character development, plot progression, or even interesting side characters. There was never an exploration of the motivation of "Alexander" to treat women as disposable, or even an examination of why the female characters subjected themselves to said disrespect. At one point in the story, Alexander seems to be amused that a woman he is bedding is physically hurting as a result of his sexual "prowess." I couldn't even say who the audience would be for content like this.
Some casual observers in the literary community are under the impression that erotica doesn't and shouldn't have a meaningful storyline; however, after listening to other substantive titles, I can flatly dispute that impression. There are talented authors within the genre that manage to display strong writing skills and tantalize at the same time. Cairo did not meet that threshold this time around.
Despite the disappointment in the story's lack of substance, narrator Kevin Cruise delivered a 4 out of a 5-star performance. This was my first listen from him, and I was actually glad to be introduced. He was natural and completely authentic in his delivery of Alexander; given better material, he would be a standout in the field and I look forward to hearing more of his performances.
