Deadliest Intuition by E Raye Turonek
A Review By: RS
A heart-pounding psychological thriller of how far someone will go to keep their secrets....
He has one gray eye, the other as dark as the deepest parts of any ocean. The often misunderstood Ronald Doolally lives his life as a single man with few attachments. After the death of his father, he hasn't a person left in the world. Until he meets Gertrude Liberal, who immediately shows interest in the odd stranger. The outspoken, natural beauty sees his distant demeanor as endearing.
Eventually wearing down his defenses, Gertrude finds a place in his heart against what Ronald would call his better judgment. He once thought of himself as being steered through life by a keen intuition, but that now manifests into something much more sinister.
As Gertrude unearths the Doolally family's secrets, she begins to question the man with whom she's found herself entangled. Who is Ronald, and how does he always seem to read people's minds? Will Gertrude's curiosity be her demise, or will Ronald be able to control his innermost thoughts once his secrets are unearthed?

Ronald Doolally has a spiritual guide that leads him to punish those who have done wrong. Gertrude Liberal brings light into Ronald's dark world.
Deadliest Intuition was a slow burn but turned into a bonfire for sure. Once I was invested, I was all in to see if Ronald Doolally and Gertrude Liberal would be able to move forward in their relationship. And while others may not agree, I definitely wanted to see Ronald win. He was an antihero. Ronald wasn't by any means a good guy in the general sense, but I was rooting for him. There were plot twists that helped pull me into this very morbid story. It gave me just the right amount of suspense to keep me on edge without leaving me having to sleep with the lights on, lol. Manny Reid did an awesome job invoking life into the characters. He had just the right amount of sinister and lightness in his voice.
My only complaints are that the story jumps a lot to Ronald's past, and at times, made it difficult to follow. I also found myself thinking that there were parts of the story that left you hanging. Like, some characters received almost a whole chapter's worth of story, then there really wasn't any follow up on what happened to them or if anyone was looking for them. It almost felt unnecessary to build the character up that much.
